Registering your boat or watercraft in the state of West Virginia? You will need to abide by the West Virginia Boat Numbers Registration Decal display laws.

West Virginia Boat registration number display laws
The vessel must display the boat number and expiration decal as stated below.
- Both port and starboard sides of the bow must display the registration number.
- Boat number must be in at least three inch high BLOCK letters.
- Number must be of one single color and contrast with the background as to appear legible.
- Registration number must read from left to right on both port and starboard sides of the bow.
- Spaces must separate the numbers from the letters. Example: WV 2128 AB.
- The boat expiration decal must be within six inches behind and in line with the number (behind meaning toward the stern).
