Louisiana Boat Registration Number Decal Display Laws
Registering your boat in the state of Louisiana? You will need to abide by the Louisiana boat number registration decal display laws found on the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries website.
We outline the basic display law requirements here on this page, but more in depth information regarding Louisiana’s watercraft regulations can be found on the ‘Required Boating Equipment‘ page of the Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and fisheries website.
The vessel must display the boat number and expiration decals as stated below
- Both port and starboard sides of the bow must display the registration number.
- Registration number must read from left to right on both port and starboard sides of the bow.
- Number must be in at least three inch high BLOCK letters.
- Color of numbers must contrast with the background.
- A space or a hyphen of equal width to a letter must separate the letters and numbers. example: LA 1125 ZW or LA-1125-ZW.
- Both sides of the bow must not display any other numbers.
- The expiration decal must be placed within six inches of the number.
